Food Control Laboratories Are an Effective Tool for Detecting Adulteration

Mustafa Genç, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sakarya Commodity Exchange and ATB Private Food Control Laboratory, warned producers and consumers against the increasing cases of adulteration in the honey sector. Chairman Genç emphasized that control laboratories play a critical role in detecting adulteration in honey.

**“Adulteration Harms Both Producers and Consumers”**

Drawing attention to the rise in fraud and adulteration cases in the honey sector in recent years, Chairman Mustafa Genç said: “Honey is one of the most preferred products by consumers due to its natural qualities and health benefits. However, the increasing cases of adulteration in the market damage the hard work of our producers and also threaten consumer health. Real honey is known for its natural purity, and the production of fake honey poses a major food safety risk.”

**“Sakarya’s Rich Flora Offers Opportunities for High-Quality Honey Production”**

Chairman Genç stated that Sakarya’s rich and diverse vegetation provides a great advantage for honey production, saying: “With its natural flora, Sakarya is a very suitable region for producing high-quality honey. This ecosystem has greatly contributed to the increase in honey production in recent years. However, with the growth in production, preventing fake honey production and ensuring the quality of products have become more important than ever.”

**“Food Control Laboratories Are an Effective Tool for Detecting Adulteration”**

Mustafa Genç emphasized that food control laboratories play a critical role in accurately analyzing the contents of honey. “Detecting adulteration in honey is only possible through scientific and reliable analyses. Food control laboratories are the most reliable tools for accurately identifying additives, sugar syrups, and other fake components in honey. Our producers can apply to the Adapazarı Commodity Exchange Private Food Control Laboratory to obtain professional analyses in order to guarantee the quality and safety of their honey products. With the tests carried out in our laboratory, the compliance of your products with the criteria of the Turkish Food Codex Honey Communiqué, as well as their purity and quality, can be proven with official documentation,” he said.
